Just back from an amazing Basecamp Festival ( full of stories of exciting adventures past and plenty of discussions about adventures new! The highlights for me were:
- Discussing future collaborations with Unite for Nepal founder Jacqs Leuii who not only walked the Himal from west to east, but also gave an impassioned account of recent events in Nepal
-Paula Must Try Harder gave a lovely talk about life's ups and downs and how everyone can make things happen when you put your mind to it
-Dwayne, who came from the most unexpected background from a gun crime London to conquer the north pole against so many odds
-A mad multi-national team that bought two cars, a Skoda Felicia and a Nissan Micra for £225 and took them around the world!
Some great activities including river tubing, serious tree climbing, impromptu wild swimming, combined with incredible workshops about anything and everything adventurous, from how to plan an expedition to lighting fires, all captured by an exuberant group of photographers, fresh from their equally incredible workshop.
The big highlight, apart from an eclectic mix of live music, was Andrew Cottons talk on his life on a surf board and surfing; the hardships of getting sponsorship for a passion, and the amazing film 'Beneath the Surface' to focus the mind and raise the spirit...lovely time was had by all. Can't wait for next year...again!
“So much more than a festival. One weekend has inspired me to challenge myself in so many new ways this year. You have created something authentic and truly positive - see you next year”
