As an exercise at our third Eco Networking Zoom meeting yesterday, we each talked through three stories.
Here are some very brief answers that begin to scratch the surface of where I am coming from and what is unfolding for me.
1 Our deepest calling - the story of 'Self',
a) What inspires me? This, for me, is all about taking great joy from bringing people together. New ideas, fresh perspectives, unlikely connections.
b) Why am I doing this? I believe for the greater good. For positive social change and the dismantling of old, outmoded ways that serve the few and not the community. To seek and find inspiration, motivation and positivity. And to endeavour to big up the unique skills and gifts that each one of us has and to offer a platform for this. I am feeling into my calling.
c) What motivates body and soul? Stepping back and watching the sparks fly. Spine-tingles.
2 The story of 'We', what shared values can we take forward
a) The story of community. It's always been about communities for me. About the momentum we can build by joining the dots (whilst respecting the differences), finding the common denominators and building on that common ground. Working towards 'the commons' and post-capitalist frameworks and models for emergent networking communities. Shaping technology that works for all, for mutual benefit.
b) What are our common values? My own values chime with Campfire Convention's - see our Credo document (below). Three key questions here....What do we see collectively as society's most urgent problems and issues? How do they fit with our own values and ethos? What are we doing about them and what actions are we taking? See our ethos and values page at Campfire too.
- Conscious alignment
3 The story of 'Now', what needs to happen...
a) What actions can we take together? Many. Every conversation can make a difference. Events can be especially powerful and transformational (hopefully we can return to them soon)! Building resources, sharing ideas and feedback, creating art and expressing our dreams and outpouring emotions, learning to be deeply adaptable and to live in the moment, learning deep listening skills, co-creating and collaborating...
b) How can we link existing communities? Campfire is working on ideas for an ecosystem that will be all about linking like-minded, like-hearted communities. In the meantime, circles are always forming. Watch this space...
c) How can we make a move towards being on the land? Let's start talking to those around us, find some land, work out what we'd like to do on the land, pool resources, dream and dig!
