I am a visual and performance artist, skilled facilitator and Project Coordinator. I have over 10 years experience of working as a lecturer in the FE sector, where I also worked as a Manager and Coordinator and in my early career as a Support Worker. I work freelance in the voluntary sector, specialising in project coordination and facilitation. My work has focused on women’s equality and social leadership and is underpinned by a Systems and Complexity Approach to Social Change and a keen interest in creativity and the creative process. I have maintained a creative practice since beginning my journey as an artist in 1999. I recently became involved with The Republic of the Imagination where I am developing my own CoArts practice and making Sensory Labyrinth Theatre. I am also Founder of Share Cardiff, a new emergent enterprise that seeks to build a community of communities committed to sustainability and activating the urban commons for a better future, by people, for people. Shining a spotlight on sharing, solidarity and the new economy in Cardiff.

the art of looking at ourselves

The Art of Looking at Ourselves is a participative arts process that leads to the creation of a site-specific installation performance.

"When you are in touch with that dimension within yourself-and being in touch with it is your natural state, all your actions and relationships will reflect the oneness with all life that you sense deep within. This is love." Eckhart Tolle

You are warmly invited to take part in The Art of Looking at Ourselves this autumn, in the beautiful setting of St Donat's Arts Centre in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. The weekend offers an introduction to the Context Oriented Arts (CoArts) method developed by Iwan Brioc from The Republic of the Imagination. During the workshop, participants enjoy a range of art and image making, movement and mindfulness activities through which they develop their own 'sensory portal', a site-specific installation.

The weekend culminates in a performance, where participants invite friends and family to experience journeying through the sensory portals they have co-created.

Our workshop and performance offers an opportunity to step out of time and enter a 'being' instead of a 'doing' mode. What we find is that people who engage with our work report greater confidence, clarity, joy, peace and aspiration. But even more than this is a feeling of having touched something deep inside of themselves, something sustaining which was always there but hidden by the day to day stresses and busyness of modern life.

Reacquainting with this inner strength creates a strong and sometimes unspoken bond between people. The opportunity to give this profound experience to others through the performance allows for a deep sense of connection and a feeling of boundless capacity to grow.
