Out and about in the Beast

Let the adventure begin...

The dream was unraveling. After a decade or more looking on enviously at my friends’ camper vans and hearing about their road trips and adventures, it was time to take the plunge and go mobile. The Bessacarr range actually appealed because of the decent interior design and upholstery, and after climbing inside a few and trying them out for size and spec, I gravitated towards the 484 because it was the only one that seems to have a large storage area hidden away as a ‘boot’ which would work well for my PA system. And so the choice was made and the adventure began. The idea was to set out exploring some of my favourite parts of the UK, and see where the journey took me..

Friday January 9th was D-day. Delivery day, or at least collection day, as I caught the train up to Burton On Trent, then a cab ride to Don Amott Leisure collected my Bessacarr.

It was February, the lowest point of the year for me and one that usually involves something of a battle with SAD. What better way, then, to keep the seasonal blues at bay than to visit the cold, grey north again a few weeks on from the first visit?

Winter was on the cusp of spring, it was Mid March and time to tempt fate by heading down to that much-loved part of the UK, Cornwall..

The clocks had just changed and it really was spring! Time to rejoice, dance a little fertility dance and point the compass north west towards the rural idyll of the Shropshire hills..

The plan was to take in a couple of days in and around Hay on Wye, where the Literary Festival was in full swing, not that we would spend much time at the actual event..
